Jorge Martín led the race of the Portuguese GP for much of the distance, eventually emerging as the winner. It was an important result that propelled him to the championship lead after his rival Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) retired.
The Italian was involved in an incident with Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) in the final laps as he tried to defend fifth place. Martín noticed what happened and, during a press conference, shared his thoughts:
– I saw it on the screen three laps from the end. At that point, I thought: “Ok, Jorge, you have to finish, 100 percent.” Then I told myself: “Ok, today you need to win.” I didn’t worry about finishing, just about winning. That corner is a bit tricky.
