Toprak Razgatlioglu shocked the world when he announced his move to BMW, but now everything seems to be going well and people are understanding why he made this change after a crazy weekend in Catalunya, where he achieved two wins and a third place.
The Turkish rider did not hide his happiness with the results, as stated in a team statement: ‘I am very happy for this moment, because this is a dream. Not only for me, but also for BMW and the team. We achieved two wins in Barcelona and, for me, it was a fantastic weekend’.
Razga then focused on the Sunday race: ‘Especially this last race was very difficult, the pace was very strong. Álvaro [Bautista] started normally and then pushed hard. I tried to follow him, but I felt a lot of rotations and closed the throttle because in a 20-lap race you need a good tire with good grip for the last five laps’.
And he continued: ‘But overall, I am very happy because we were on the podium in all three races, including two wins. Especially the Superpole race was amazing, when I passed Alvaro in the last corner. I think this overtake is among the top three of my career. I am also very happy for BMW. We are evolving step by step and I think we will be stronger in the other race tracks’.
The former world champion shared his happiness with the team: ‘Everyone is very happy and will now work even harder. We have a very good package. We are getting there, we are not far and this year I think we can achieve many wins and I hope we will be World Champions. I hope!’
