Miguel Oliveira reached ninth place in the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix. He was far from fighting for the top positions in this home round of the championship, as he has done in the past, but he did not fail to witness the support of the Portuguese public.
In statements to SportTV at the end of the race, the Trackhouse Racing driver spoke about the fans, comparing the support he felt in Portimão with that which Valentino Rossi had:
– I have been in the World Championship for 14 years and the only support I have seen from the public towards a specific rider was only with Valentino Rossi. So, I have no words to describe all the support that the public showed. It was simply a dream weekend in that sense. Despite the result, I know that the support is unconditional and I am really full of heart because of it.
