Pedro Acosta continues to surprise in his rookie season in MotoGP and this Sunday he stepped onto the podium for the first time. The rookie finished third in the Portuguese GP in Portimão.
Executing good pace management to avoid tire problems like the ones he experienced in Qatar, the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 Spaniard did not hesitate to show his fighting spirit. He once again overtook Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) and did not back down when he was behind Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
In fact, Acosta did not rest until he passed the two-time champion, taking over fourth place at the time. On the 24th and penultimate lap, there was still time to climb to third place, after Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) encountered issues ahead of him.
