After three seasons with Pramac, Johann Zarco traded the comfort of knowing he had a competitive bike with Ducati, to opt for LCR Honda – knowing he would find an RC213V far from being able to fight for top positions and in a developmental phase.
For the Monegasque team, it was a natural advantage, as well as for Honda in general. LCR owner Lucio Cecchinello said, quoted by the site SPEEDWEEK.com:
– “I remember when Alex Rins went to Yamaha – which I personally understand because he had a factory contract there. When we had the opportunity to hire Zarco, HRC did not hesitate for a second. Everyone appreciates his experience in MotoGP and that is now very important. We have definitely narrowed the gap to our opponents. We need experienced riders like him.”
