After a difficult start to the season, Marco Bezzecchi hopes to return to top form at the Portuguese GP this weekend. The Italian sees the Portuguese track as a double-edged sword, describing it as ‘complicated, physically demanding’, but also ‘very fun’. Nevertheless, his goals are clear: to get closer to the group of fastest riders.
In a team statement, the Italian previewed the weekend saying: ‘Portimão is truly one of the most beautiful tracks on the calendar. Complicated, physically demanding, but at the same time very fun. Last year I was fast here, this year we are struggling a bit more, but I am satisfied with the progress made during the race weekend in Qatar’.
He continued, expressing his goals: ‘With the whole team, we will continue to work, especially on braking. The goal is to get closer to the faster group and have fun on this particular track’.
In 2023, the driver did not have a good start to the championship – it was the first race of the season – when he crashed after two laps in Portugal, finishing third in the main race on Sunday.
