The praises for Pedro Acosta after the Qatar MotoGP continue. The rider fought in the top five during part of the main race, but tire wear threw him to ninth place in the end – not erasing, however, the good performance, with battles and overtakes against riders like Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) or Maverick Viñales (Aprilia).
Nicolas Goyon, team manager of Red Bull GasGas Tech3, spoke to the newspaper L’Equipe about the rider who is part of the team: ‘He has an incredible natural talent, but also a phenomenal ability to assimilate what is asked of him. He already does everything as well as the other riders of the [KTM] RC16: braking pressures, maximum angle to the nearest degree… he has a smile on his face when he gets off the bike because he is enjoying himself, which was not really the case in Moto2‘.
Another aspect that Acosta displays despite his youth is the fact that he is mature, as Goyon said: ‘He also surprises us with his maturity. In terms of sports and professionalism, he has the approach of a 30-year-old pilot. He is the person who gets up every day at 6:00 a.m. to train. He has an incredible routine and I have rarely seen a pilot so determined in this discipline. And despite the two world champion titles he has won in the last three years, he does not have the value of bringing the team together, and that is him‘.
