Fabio Quartararo is in the final year of his contract with Monster Energy Yamaha in MotoGP. The season is still in its early stages, but the Iwata manufacturer remains far from the top, and despite the concessions that may allow for a closer approach throughout the year, the rider is looking for possible alternatives.
In Qatar, Quartararo finished 11th in the main race about 18 seconds behind the winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati). The Sprint race saw an even worse scenario: 12th, 13 seconds behind the leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) with half the laps.
According to the website GPOne.com, the 2021 champion has already started talking to the CEO of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola and this is no secret. The Noale manufacturer would be the most logical option for Quartararo: Ducati and KTM already have many options to choose from within their own ranks, and Honda is facing major difficulties just like Yamaha.
But also Enea Bastianini could emerge as an alternative for Aprilia, if he leaves Ducati and the manufacturer does not want to continue with any of its current riders: Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales in the factory team; and Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández in the Trackhouse Racing satellite team.
