Jett Lawrence and Tom Vialle obtained their second consecutive victories last Saturday in AMA Supercross in 450SX and 250SX East, respectively. The ninth round of the season took place at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.
In the premier class, Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) led from the first lap of the main race after taking the holeshot, but his competitors were never far behind. Cooper Webb (Monster Energy Star Yamaha) came out on top in the battle for second place and finished 2.445s behind the winner. Ken Roczen (Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki) finished third, 14.474s behind, followed by Chase Sexton (Red Bull KTM). Lawrence remains at the top of the championship, now 13 points ahead of Webb.
In 250SX East, the Eastern division of the class, Vialle (Red Bull KTM) made the holeshot and at the end of the first lap already had a lead of more than two seconds. The Frenchman had a lead of over six seconds, but slowed down in the last laps and crossed the finish line 2.731s ahead of Cameron McAdoo (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki). The American had a fierce battle for second place, in which he ultimately surpassed his teammate Seth Hammaker. Pierce Brown (Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas) finished fourth, 11.091s behind. With five rounds to go, Vialle took the lead in 250SX East with a one-point advantage over McAdoo. He also overtook Brown, who dropped to third.
