Pedro Acosta was one of the protagonists of the Qatar GP. The rookie was in 4th place in a fierce battle with the eight-time world champion, Marc Márquez, however he could not do better than 9th place overall.
The Spanish rider spoke in the debrief about the sensations he had during the first race in the premier class in 2024.
– ‘Not bad, to start. Many things happened today. The start was not the best, but then the feeling on the front was great. Incredible feeling I had on the bike and we are very happy. Tire management was not the best, but anyway we have to be happy with these mistakes, they are lessons we take for Portimão. Maybe I didn’t have the pace to be in front with them until the end, but tire management was also not the best and what we take from today was very good’.
Questioned about the expectations that everyone has on the ability of the Spanish pilot and what they expect from his performance, Acosta responded:
– ‘In Moto3 I had more pressure than many great MotoGP riders. I can’t do anything about it because it’s not worth listening to what they say, it means nothing to me. When I overtook Marc, I said: “now I can’t fail”, it was very good to share the track with him and especially this battle. I just need to manage the tires better, otherwise I have nothing to point out and we need to be happy with our performance today’.
