Jorge Prado took control in the new season of the MXGP Motocross World Championship. Last year’s champion won the first race of the MXGP in Patagonia, Argentina this Sunday in Villa La Angostura.
Still in the first lap, the Red Bull GasGas Spanish rider took the lead and never looked back. Throughout the race, he distanced himself from his rivals. Initially, Maxime Renaux (Monster Energy Yamaha) was keeping up with Prado, but the Frenchman was overtaken by Romain Febvre (Kawasaki) on the fourth lap and would eventually lose another position.
With no rivals in sight, Prado was the winner with a 9.547s lead over Febvre, while Pauls Jonass (Standing Construct Honda) passed Renaux on the eighth lap to finish third. After dominating the qualifying race, Tim Gajser (Team HRC) fell out of the top ten in the first lap and managed to recover to fifth place.
