Fabio Quartararo finished the first Grand Prix within the points, in 11th position. The French rider continues to struggle to keep up with the pace of the European manufacturers, but still managed to score 5 points for the championship in the Qatar GP.
In debrief, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider talked about the weekend and the difficulties the team is currently facing:
– ‘It is what it is, here is where you see the difference of who works hard and we are currently very far from the others, of course it is very difficult because I know the potential I have and I know where I can be. We are further from the others this year than last year, because even though the bike is better, the others’ is still much better’.
When asked about the difficulties in tire wear during the race, Fabio replied:
– ‘I had a lot of difficulties today, but to be honest I was much more careful with the tires today and I hope we can find a solution to solve the problems. Today I worked much more on traction control to save the tires. The problem right now is the first laps, we have no potential at all and I can’t attack at the beginning’.
