When it comes to scooters, models with engines of 125 cc or less make up the largest share of the market. From January to August 2023, 54,143 new scooters of this displacement were registered, representing a growth of 18.3% compared to the same period in 2022. On the other hand, motorcycles saw consumers preferring those with medium to high displacements, as motorcycles with engines from 751cc to 1,000cc had the highest number of registrations, with 30,709 units registered from January to August 2023. This represents a growth rate of 46.7% compared to the same period in 2022.
The most popular motorcycle segments are standard and naked bikes, with a total of 43,405 motorcycles sold from January to August 2023. Enduro bikes come in second place, with 42,639 registrations, followed by touring bikes with 12,746 registrations, rounding out the top three. Overall, the best-selling motorcycle in Italy remains the Benelli TRK 502, with 3,715 units sold. Other noteworthy models include the BMW R 1250 GS in second place, as well as the Yamaha Tenere 700. Interestingly, the Moto Guzzi V7 was the best-selling naked bike, with 1,911 units sold from January to August 2023.
