This motorcycle features a parallel twin-cylinder 668cc engine with 75 hp, and we noticed a lot of responsiveness throughout the rev range, feeling only that there is a bit of a lack of torque at low revs, especially off-road. The engine of this SRT 700X is indeed quite responsive, adapting well to the rest of the bike and delivering the power required in practically all situations. It may not be a torque monster, offering 67 Nm at 6,500 rpm as the maximum value, but it does not shy away from anything. As mentioned, only in situations of lower revs do we feel that there could be a bit more energy in this twin-cylinder block, something that is mainly noticeable when riding off-road and wanting to get out of a more delicate situation, or making the rear wheel slide to negotiate a tighter and slower curve. On asphalt, the linearity is the great asset of this QJ motor, and low revs did not prove to be a problem, showing that the heart of this motorcycle does not suffer from significant vibrations, no matter the rev range.
CHASSIS THAT STANDS OUT
Regarding the chassis, this SRT 700X comes very well equipped. Looking at the technical specifications, the fully adjustable Marzocchi suspensions stand out immediately and are, naturally, one of the main points to analyze on this motorcycle. And we can say, after many kilometers traveled on roads with very varied asphalt, both the front and rear suspensions leave nothing to be desired and showed a smooth behavior with good road surface feedback. Essentially on rough roads, the absorption of irregularities is good, without losing the ability to read what is happening under us. The initial stroke may be a bit irregular, at least in the base setting, something that we can certainly change with small adjustments. Off-road, both the front and rear suspensions showed to maintain their behavior, but here the 240 kg of this SRT 700X and the lack of higher torque at low revs were felt, as we mentioned earlier. On the other hand, one of the biggest flaws pointed out in other QJ Motor models we have tested, the braking, has undergone significant improvements here, especially on the front, which also has an adjustable lever. With Brembo taking care of the situation, the SRT 700X offers good power and feel on the front, with the rear lacking a bit of sensitivity on the pedal, but being quite sharp.
EQUIPMENT TO MAKE YOU ENVIOUS
As far as standard equipment is concerned, we have a 5” TFT panel with smartphone connectivity, heated grips and heated seat – quite comfortable for long rides. The TFT panel has good visibility, although it suffers a bit from direct sunlight. The information is well distributed with the digital speedometer in the center and the option to set it to dark mode always, or configure it to change automatically. Smartphone connectivity, almost mandatory nowadays, is also available and so you can use your smartphone for navigation during long trips, the SRT 700X has a USB socket on the left side of the panel, as well as a bar on the windshield support, designed to hold a phone or GPS mount. As standard, this motorcycle also comes equipped with hand guards, protection bars, illuminated controls, center stand, and heated seat and grips, as we have already mentioned. It is important to note that the standard heated seat is only for the rider.
GOOD START
The QJ Motor SRT 700X has shown to possess a solid, well-structured, and balanced set, revealing that the Chinese brand is not committing madness, but rather developing good foundations to work on in the future. As we have seen – and already presented to you in the June edition during the Warm Up Day of QJ Motor – the range is already vast and continues to grow, showing the strong commitment of the manufacturer to the European market, where it has big “sharks” to beat. The news will certainly continue to emerge, and with the Milan Motor Show approaching rapidly, that could be the chosen place by QJ Motor to reveal more and better news for Europe and Portugal.
