Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli were not very excited after the MotoGP tests in Misano, with the Frenchman testing the new M1 engine, from which he expected more. Team director Massimo Meregalli analyzed the work during this Monday and issued a warning.
‘We had one less day to test here compared to last year, so we had a full program. We tested new items. The most important to evaluate were the first prototype of the 2024 engine and an aerodynamic package,’ Meregalli said in an official statement.
Without revealing the feedback from the riders, the manager explained in which areas both riders worked:‘Of course, the hopes of our riders, especially Fabio, were very high. He tested the new engine and the aerodynamic package and collected a lot of data that will be used for future development. Franky focused on aerodynamics and a new chassis.’
Now it remains for the engineers of the team to work based on the received comments: ‘The engineers in Japan and Italy will carefully analyze the specifications. A small change in the specifications can greatly affect the behavior of the bike, so we want to pay close attention to this task and try to take big steps towards the Valencia Test’.
And he concluded: ‘Michelin also asked us to help test the new tires today, and we like to help them in development. Although we were not able to complete all the points on our long list, we are leaving the Misano Test with a good amount of information, which will be the first step for 2024’.
