The MXGP and MX2 World Championship will be this weekend in Maggiora, counting for the Italian GP, a round in which Jorge Prado (MXGP) and Andrea Adamo (MX2) can perfectly secure the titles in their respective classes, one round before the end.
With 100 points still up for grabs (50 in each round), Jorge Prado (GASGAS) has a 67-point advantage over Romain Febvre (Kawasaki), the only opponent still mathematically able to reach the title but such a scenario seems practically impossible. Febvre will have the pressure on him and knows he has to almost achieve a perfect score and hope that #61 stays at “zero” or close to it, something that has never happened this season.
The last round in Turkey was, in fact, the weakest in terms of points for Prado, where he scored 20 points.
In MX2, the situation is quite similar, with Adamo (KTM) leading the standings with 48 more points than his teammate, Liam Everts. Jago Geerts (Yamaha) still has mathematical chances to win the title but he is 82 points behind the current championship leader.
Geerts practically needs two rounds – four races – with Adamo and Everts scoring zero points, while he himself has to score almost to the maximum.
As for Everts, he has “only” one round of disadvantage against Adamo, but he also does not solely depend on himself to reach the title.
It is, therefore, practically certain that Prado and Adamo will win the world titles in their respective categories and only a miracle can give hope to their opponents to reach the top of the standings or, on the other hand, only a catastrophe will prevent Prado and Adamo from becoming champions.
