It is finally confirmed: Jorge Prado has just become the new MXGP world champion. In Maggiora, the rider had a comfortable lead in the standings over his closest competitors and did not disappoint, immediately securing victory in the first round. Romain Febvre disastrously crashed with a third of the race completed and “handed over” the title to his opponent.
To achieve this, the GASGAS rider did not hold back: he won in Maggiora in the first race with a 1.309s lead over Jeremy Seewer (Yamaha), while Alberto Forato (SM Action/KTM) finished third.
The title was somewhat “handed over” with a third of the race remaining after Romain Febvre (Kawasaki) crashed and did not return to his bike, thus handing the title to his opponent on a silver platter. It is worth noting that the Frenchman did not solely depend on himself to clinch the title.
In this race, the top three stood out, with Calvin Vlaanderen (Yamaha) finishing in fourth place after crossing this finish line 26.251s after the winner. Ruben Fernandez was the best rider on track in a Honda, in fifth.
