Ivo Lopes had a nearly perfect weekend in Navarra in another round of the Spanish Superbike Championship, securing pole position and two victories. Naturally happy with the result, #75 prefers to play defensively and stay focused.
On social media, the Portuguese rider showed his happiness for another good performance, but admitted some ‘nervousness’ before the second race, which had rainy conditions:
– As I have been sharing with all of you, it has been a wonderful year for me with everything falling into place. When we do good, we receive good in return, and for that, I want to thank life! Before the race, I felt some nervousness because I didn’t want the race to be in the rain, but it ended up being that way and it was good because I was able to set a very strong pace from the beginning, creating a big gap to the riders chasing me.
Lopes went even further and considered the triumph to be perfect, in addition to looking at the overall, where he once again added the highest possible number of points to “his personal account, although he prefers to keep his feet firmly on the ground”: ‘It was a perfect victory because we were able to amass a lot of points for the championship. There are two races left and the truth is that mathematically it is possible for us to be champions in the next race which would allow us to fulfill our goals, but we have to stay focused because things do not end here’.
And he thanked the support and those who have accompanied him: ‘I want to thank the team, as we are all aligned and because without them none of this would be possible. Thank you to everyone who is with me and it has been very rewarding to see the fruits of my work. We will continue to focus until the end of the championship. Thank you all!’
