In 2021, a new project was presented to bring MotoGP to Hungary this year – at a circuit in Debrecen. This initiative collapsed, but now there are two other circuits on the table to host the premier category in 2025.
According to the MotoGP.com website, the promoter Dorna and the Hungarian Mobility Development Agency (HUMDA) are working on the homologation of the Hungaroring and Balaton Park.
The newly updated agreement aims to include Balaton Park as a replacement circuit in MotoGP as early as next year, before its official entry on the calendar in 2025. The last visit of the category to Hungary was in 1992.
