Miguel Oliveira finished 12th once again in the MotoGP Indian GP sprint race. It was not an easy race for the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP rider, who stayed clear of setbacks and incidents to recover as much as possible from 17th on the grid.
After avoiding trouble in the first corner, #88 settled in 16th position, but on the long straight inside he dropped to 17th… before regaining 16th on the opening lap, only to be overtaken again by Maverick Viñales (Aprilia).
With 16 laps to go, Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) crashed and, on that same lap, Oliveira gained two positions entering the points-paying positions in 15th. The next target became Pol Espargaró (GasGas Tech3/KTM), whom the Portuguese briefly overtook on lap ten.
However, shortly after he was overtaken not only by the rider from Granollers, but also by Márquez. Issues with Aleix Espargaró’s Aprilia put Oliveira back in the top 15 with 11 laps remaining.
New advances in the classification by the Almada pilot when on the 14th lap Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) suffered a fall while fighting for podium positions. Shortly after, he overtook Pol Espargaró again and reached 13th place.
With two laps to go, Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini/Ducati) was forced to retire, which promoted Oliveira to 12th place. From then on, nothing else changed. Despite significantly approaching the 11th place, the Portuguese repeated yesterday’s sprint race result. He finished two positions behind his teammate, Raúl Fernández.
