Marc Márquez finished the Indian GP in 9th position with his teammate, Joan Mir, achieving the best result of the season for Repsol Honda Team with 5th place.
Questioned about why his bike performed so well at the Indian circuit and the race itself, Marc responded: ‘The bike was good because the track is very similar to the Austin circuit. Our bike works well in the slower corners and long straights. I didn’t have any physical problems during the race, I was giving my all after the fall, but I wasn’t struggling with the heat. It will be interesting to go to Motegi to see our situation, this weekend I felt like we were ahead of many teams except for the four Ducati riders who were at the front, and that is important for us. In the Sprint I was on the limit, I didn’t crash and I made the podium, but if I did the same today, I would be dead. The goal right now is to finish the race, and I managed to do that. My pace was similar to Quartararo who finished third, so I am happy.’
Marc Márquez spoke about his adaptation to the bike and the new style of riding that he has to adjust in order to have a good race pace.
– ‘This weekend the riding style was already different, but I still feel that I am not comfortable, if I ride with my natural riding style it doesn’t work and so I am not riding with my natural instinct. All of this requires extra concentration and is quite tiring. The important thing today is that we managed to be the fastest after the three Ducati riders with Quartararo also at a good pace. I tried to keep up with them and felt that I could if I hadn’t crashed, so I was happy with the final result’.
