Álvaro Bautista experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during the Superbikes World Championship round in Aragon and knows well what it’s like to be performing well and challenging for a race when a mistake ends up ruining everything.
The current WSBK leader commented on the recent mistake by Pecco Bagnaia this Sunday in India, which ended with the Italian on the ground, and expressed confidence by saying that the Italian will quickly recover and be back in form on the Desmosedici GP23: ‘I imagine Pecco is bitter and will spend the week reflecting on this Sunday’s mistake. However, he is lucky to have another race just around the corner and I am convinced he will be fast in Japan on Sunday,’ he commented.
This fall by Bagnaia, combined with Marco Bezzecchi’s victory and Jorge Martín’s second place, ultimately shook up the title race in the category: Bagnia leads with 292 points, Martín has 279, and Bezzecchi 248.
