Next year, Franco Morbidelli will ride a factory Ducati in MotoGP, integrated into the Pramac satellite team. Behind him are two very complicated seasons at Monster Energy Yamaha, so he hopes to relaunch his career.
The Italian said in a press conference that he was waiting for this opportunity: ‘I have to thank, first of all, Paolo Campinoti for giving me this opportunity, and then all the people at Ducati, Gianluca [Falcioni] and VR46. We were waiting for this opportunity to come and we worked on it. And finally now we can all say it. And it’s a great feeling. After two very complicated years, I think it will be good‘.
Asked about his discussions about Ducati with his VR46 Riders Academy teammates, Morbidelli commented: ‘It is true that we had some difficult moments listening to their opinion and understanding that it was so different from my feeling. And in some cases there was some frustration. Next year everything will be the same, we will talk about the same subject‘.
The #21 also ensured that he will talk to the other VR46 riders who ride Ducati bikes in order to learn: ‘I will definitely ask many questions and try to learn as quickly as possible in order to be competitive on the new bike as soon as possible‘.
