Rumors surrounding the future of Marc Márquez continue to proliferate, with the latest suggesting a possible temporary loan from Repsol Honda to Gresini next season.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the Japanese manufacturer could be willing to release the rider from the contract that still runs until 2024 – in a sort of loan to Gresini next year, with the option to reclaim him in 2025.
In this way, Honda would have a season to show significant progress in its competitive situation, being able to count on Márquez in the longer term if they succeed.
However, such a solution may not be to Ducati’s liking: after all, they would have a rider from a rival manufacturer possibly temporarily in one of their satellite teams, gathering important knowledge from what is considered the benchmark bike in the current field.
For Márquez, it would be an option that could allow him to return to top results as early as 2024, even on a less current bike and on an independent team. Such a loan would be an unprecedented situation in MotoGP, also having potential advantages for Honda itself. Whether it will materialize or not is still unclear at this time.
