Ivo Lopes has just been crowned champion once again in the land of Nuestros Hermanos, counting for the Spanish Superbike Championship after winning the first race of the weekend in Jerez.
The Portuguese rider, who races with BMW, added another 25 points today after winning race 1 and doesn’t even need to grab the calculator to do the final calculations, since he managed to beat the competition and with still two rounds to go in the championship, besides Sunday’s race.
Lopes dominated the race practically from start to finish and only in two laps, near the end, did not cross the finish line first due to a great race by Román Ramos.
Still, #40 had no arguments to defend himself from Lopes who would ultimately secure the victory by beating his opponent by 0.138s.
With 208 points, Lopes is mathematically champion in the category and thus renewed the title achieved in 2021, continuing to prove himself as a reliable asset within the BMW universe, already leading to his debut in the World Superbike Championship.
