Miguel Oliveira finished the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix in 12th place, returning to point-scoring results. However, he seemed to have the potential to do better in Mandalika, but was heavily affected by an incident he suffered while still running in the top ten.
A good start for #88, who immediately climbed into the top ten, placing himself between eighth and ninth on the opening lap. By the third lap, he moved up to seventh following a crash by Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati).
When Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) served a Long Lap penalty on the sixth lap, Oliveira progressed in the standings again, reaching sixth place. Despite having the closest pursuer closer than the pursued, he was having a solid race in this early stage.
A drop in performance on the ninth and tenth laps, with the rider from Almada being overtaken by Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) and Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati), dropping to eighth place. Binder was right behind.
With 17 laps to go, misfortune struck Oliveira, as he was hit by Binder in their battle, lost control, went off track, and sank in the standings down to 16th.
It was on lap 13 that the Portuguese rider re-entered the points, gaining three positions in a short time: two of them due to the crashes of Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) and Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) who were ahead.
From then on, Oliveira consistently ran in 13th position, behind his teammate Raúl Fernández. He completed the pass on the Spaniard on the penultimate lap, finishing the race in 12th.
