Álex Rins finally returned to competition at the Indonesian MotoGP and achieved a strong result after more than four months of absence. He finished ninth, matching his second best result of the year.
In statements to the championship’s official website, the LCR Honda Spaniard admitted that he was physically exhausted: ‘I’m finished, honestly. I’m super tired after this long and tough race in very hot conditions. The track was a bit slippery, but after 13, 14 laps I started to have a lot of difficulties with my leg – because the anesthesia wore off and I started to change my riding style a bit to not suffer so much.’
After the recovery efforts of the last few months, Rins gives even more importance to this result: ‘During the race I thought about all the hours we put in at home – physiotherapist, gym, hours and hours watching MotoGP. And I think this race was the strength we put in to finish the race. This, for us, is like a podium.’
