Chinese motorcycle manufacturer QJMotor has established itself as one of the fastest-growing motorcycle manufacturers in the world. Already working to establish a global presence, QJMotor has a growing presence outside of its home country, particularly in Europe and parts of Asia. Most recently, it was announced that QJ Motor would enter the US market through a distribution agreement with SSR Motorsports.
That being said, the brand has proven to be a powerhouse when it comes to producing new models. Speaking of new models, the brand recently unveiled the electric scooter TQ during the Chongqing Motorcycle Expo. Two-wheeled electric vehicles are gaining popularity worldwide, especially in terms of urban mobility, so new two-wheeled electric vehicles like the TQ, especially from a brand as large as QJ Motor, are hard to ignore.
The TQ was launched in three versions, with the most powerful model delivering the equivalent of only 3.4 hp. This makes it more similar to an electric moped than a true electric motorcycle. The other two versions have power outputs of 1,000 watts (1.4 horsepower) and 800 watts (1.1 horsepower), making them much more accessible to riders with little experience on two wheels. That being said, it is still unclear whether a license will be required to ride them, if they are launched outside of China, but it is likely that they will be subject to the same rules regarding light electric vehicles in different countries.
The three versions of the QJ Motor TQ have a motor integrated in the rear axle and include three battery options. The most affordable of the set comes with a conventional lead-acid battery, while the more premium offerings are powered by a lithium-ion battery that promises a range of up to 120 km on a single charge.
Other features include an automatic locking system, headlights with ambient light sensor, reverse gear, and even multi-axis sensors that can detect a fall. QJ Motor did not reveal the weight of the new electric scooter, but states that it has a maximum load capacity of 150 kg. The TQ has 12-inch front tires and 10-inch rear tires and is equipped with front and rear disc brakes.
At the time of writing this article, the price of the new QJ Motor TQ scooter has not been announced. It is also unclear whether the new model will be sold outside of China, however, if the company plans to launch it in Europe, it already has a growing network of dealers in the region.
