Brad Binder was the man in the spotlight on the first day of the Australian MotoGP. In the second practice session, he set the pace of the day, being the only one to lap in the 1m27s (1m27.943s).
The Red Bull KTM rider finished just ahead of his teammate Jack Miller and didn’t hide his satisfaction with this Friday: ‘Today was a really good day; from the first exit this morning the bike worked really well and I was very happy with it from the start. This afternoon, when we put on the tires, it felt really good. And I don’t have much to say; a very good day, the most important thing is to make it to Q2 tomorrow. And we’ll do the same tomorrow and see how we end up‘.
Despite being somewhat apprehensive considering last year’s poor performance, Binder was confident from early on that things would be different for the better: ‘I was a little worried coming here, to be honest, because last year was very difficult. But from the first lap this morning, I realized that we are in a different championship compared to last year and the bike is working optimally‘.
