After the swap of sprint race with the long race times, the cancellation of the sprint race this Sunday was expected, after all forecasts pointed to very challenging conditions for the drivers, and after a very complicated Moto2 race.
Still, the drivers spoke to journalists and Raul Fernández was one of the advocates for today’s sprint race cancellation, stating that the conditions were not suitable for the sprint to take place, despite the stable weather during warm up:
– In my case, I think they made the right decision, because this morning the track wasn’t so bad, the wind was stable. The problem was during the Moto2 race, the wind started to pick up, it was too aggressive. You saw many crashes, so for me, they made a good decision.
The #25 of CryptoDATA RNF Aprilia also said that the change of schedule was unanimous among the riders, already anticipating that it would be impossible to race on Sunday:
– It was for this reason (weather conditions) that we tried everything so that the long race was yesterday, because we knew there was a possibility that there would be no sprint, it was in everyone’s mind, so it was a good decision.
