Jaume Masiá once again led in the second practice session of the Thai GP in Moto3. The championship leader did not improve his time in Buriram, ending up with a nearly identical time to the morning session.
After leading in the first session, Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda) entered this second practice as the fastest ahead of David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM). Positions switched with the second flying laps, while Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) moved up to third.
The top positions remained stable, despite improvements in times until just over 20 minutes from the checkered flag, José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) overtook Masiá to take second place. Times were still not better than those from the morning practice.
Approximately 14 minutes from the checkered flag, Joel Kelso (CFMoto Racing PrüstelGP) dethroned Muñoz from the lead. The Spanish rider was overtaken a few minutes later by Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), who became Kelso’s main pursuer… passing him shortly after to reach the top.
In the last five minutes, significant changes were registered. Several riders improved, with David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) taking the lead, David Moreira (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) in second, Veijer in third, and Ryusei Yamanaka (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) in fourth.
Right at the end, Masiá improved his time and secured the lead 0.111s ahead of Alonso. He was just a thousandth off the time that gave him the lead in the first practice session. Moreira finished in third, followed by Veijer and Yamanaka closing out the top five.
