Jorge Martín won this Sunday’s MotoGP GP in Thailand, leading practically the entire race. However, it was far from an easy victory, having to fight hard until the end against a competitive Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM).
In a press conference, the Prima Pramac Spaniard showed no doubt that it was one of the best performances he has ever done – having a somewhat unexpected confidence: ‘I am sure that I think it was one of the best races of my life. Usually when there is a big fight I have some difficulties to overtake or brake hard, but I had that confidence that I could use to recover positions, to respond to Brad. And I didn’t expect‘.
According to Martín, his pursuers – Binder and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) – were stronger in the final laps: ‘When they caught up with me in the final part of the race, I believe they were a bit faster than me. Even though I managed the tire very well, they were a bit stronger, but I was able to respond every time. I thought Brad was going to escape, but I managed to keep that small distance‘.
#89 also admitted that it was not an easy task to lead for so long with small margins: ‘Leading for 20 laps with a tenth of an advantage over the second is very difficult mentally, but I was able to maintain that concentration until the end‘.
