It was only on the last lap that the MotoGP Thailand GP was decided, with Jorge Martín coming out on top in a duel with Brad Binder until the final corners. It was a hard-fought victory for the Pramac rider, but also a relief after the events of previous rounds.
The Spaniard said in a press conference how he approached the fight with Binder (Red Bull KTM): ‘I was hearing a lot of his engine in turn seven, so I knew he would try there. I was a bit on the limit with the tires in that corner, so I thought he had more grip than me. But as soon as he passed me and he was in front, I saw that he was also on the limit with the rear grip. So, I tried to keep that distance for a lap and then give him back the overtake, because I didn’t want my front tire to get too hot‘.
Regarding the impact of the victory, Martín admitted that it was a psychological relief: ‘I think it was a great relief to finish in front. On Saturday I wasn’t even happy, I didn’t enjoy the moment of winning, I was just focused on the race. I didn’t sleep for four days and finally I will sleep well‘.
