Maverick Viñales contributed to the Aprilia’s one-two finish at the MotoGP Catalan GP, finishing in second place. He led a large part of yesterday’s race in Barcelona, but in the final laps he couldn’t hold off his teammate Aleix Espargaró.
During a press conference, #12 described the emotions that the result brought him: ‘I feel fulfilled. That is a fantastic feeling. Of course, I really wanted to win, but in the end Aleix had a little more than me. But, except for that, honestly we have to be very happy and proud of how we are riding the bike. I felt so fantastic when I was leading the race. I felt that was my moment. And when I was leading the race I felt something unbelievable, because it had been a long time since I led a race. You never lose that concentration, that moment, that rhythm, and it makes me feel that I can do this again‘.
Performance aside, the joy within the Aprilia team was something that particularly touched Viñales: ‘My favorite moment was arriving at the closed park and seeing how the staff was enjoying themselves, seeing the true happiness of these people – the real happiness of these people made me feel so proud‘.
