Marc Márquez has had a successful career in motorcycle racing and MotoGP, but like many riders, he has not been able to avoid several incidents along the way. Some of them were particularly serious, such as concussions and even the diplopia problems he suffered more than once, which put his future at risk.
Questioned about the perception of risk levels after violent crashes with consequences such as concussions, the Spanish rider admitted that these injuries lead to more respect considering that they usually occur in strong accidents:
– I’ve had major concussions in the past, I had the eye injury. It’s different, the feeling is different. Normally when you injure a bone, you know it will heal and pass. But a concussion… sometimes it’s good because you don’t remember. But sometimes, it’s true: not remembering what is happening, and what you did. Normally a concussion means a big accident, and a big accident means respect.
