The 2024 MotoGP season begins this weekend, which will be Enea Bastianini’s second with the Ducati factory team. As such, he is one of the title contenders and is determined to improve and make any necessary changes.
The #23 has revealed that he will approach the new season with some differences: ‘My approach to this season is a bit different compared to other seasons because my goal is to be more consistent – also compared to the 2022 season, where I won four races and got some podiums, but sometimes I was behind. And I think I also worked very well during the tests to better approach attacking the stopwatch – because it’s important to always stay at the top and show that we always stay at the top. My approach this year will be a bit different, but let’s see‘.
Bastianini then explained how his approach will be different: ‘Being more aggressive from the start, because it is important to always be at the front, in all sessions – because if you need time to get to the finish line, sometimes it is too late. This MotoGP is different compared to a few years ago and it is always a fight‘.
Asked if this aggressiveness is something that can be trained, the Italian replied: ‘I think it is more of a mental situation, because I am not very aggressive at the beginning and also in my riding style. You watch my races and I am always much faster during the final part. I work mentally to be faster at the beginning compared to the end of the race. It is also important to train and think about this, but the mental condition is much more important‘.
