MACBOR, the Spanish brand created by and for two-wheeled enthusiasts, will be present at the 80th edition of the Milan International Motorcycle Show (EICMA 2023), at Stand M81, Pavilion 13. With the support of Grupo Motos Bordoy and their more than 50 years dedicated to the motorcycle sector – to which the brand belongs – MACBOR will begin its expansion into the international market at EICMA, after accumulating extensive experience in the Spanish market and being present in the Portuguese market for the last 3 years.
MACBOR: the ambitious challenge of GRUPO MOTOS BORDOY
MACBOR is the own brand of Grupo Motos Bordoy, one of the most important players in the motorcycle sector in Spain.
Grupo Motos Bordoy, by combining 3 different business lines (importer, distributor, and dealerships), managing several important brands such as SYM, QJ Motor, NIU, Kove (as exclusive importer), MV Agusta, Indian Motorcycles, Husqvarna (as exclusive importer) and with the opening of several dealerships in Barcelona, achieved a significant 8.5% share in the total Spanish two-wheeled market.
The Motos Bordoy Group started its journey in 1971 with a motorcycle shop in Barcelona managed by Jaime Bordoy, one of the most well-known names in Spanish motorcycling: a rider with several championships won and a love for two wheels with exceptional business vision. Ten years after its creation, MOTOS BORDOY began to act as a distributor of brands, representing well-known brands such as Malaguti, Cagiva, Ducati, MV Agusta, and Husqvarna. It also entered the equipment sector by successfully launching its own brand XC-TING (from 1999 to 2008).
The growth of MOTOS BORDOY accompanied the growth of the motorcycle industry in Spain. After more than 50 years of history, MOTOS BORDOY has become a solid and dynamic group of companies that, despite all the changes, remains faithful to its original identity: the passion for motorcycles and closeness to the public. In 1999, motivated by the extensive experience gained, MOTOS BORDOY decided to take the next step by bringing its own motorcycle brand to life: MACBOR.
MACBOR: from commitment to reality.
Born in 1999 as a brand of children’s initiation and competition motorcycles, MACBOR entered the motorcycle market (125/250 cc) in 2017 and, just 3 years later, managed to position itself as the leader in the 125cc motorcycle category. In that same year (2020), MACBOR made the leap to the mid-displacement market with the launch of its twin-cylinder trail – the Montana XR5 500 – and later with the Eight Mile 500 – Street and Scrambler. Shortly after, it took the first step in its international expansion by entering the Portuguese market. Thanks to the excellent quality/price ratio of its products and the outstanding after-sales service, as well as the strong brand personality and authentic approach with its customers, MACBOR has established itself as a relevant player in the market. MACBOR: motorcycles with the soul of Barcelona All MACBOR motorcycles share the same common points – design, excellent quality/price ratio, and a unique personality – to achieve, in Macbor slang, these “soulful motorcycles.”After a first phase of product development, in which MACBOR developed its products from established platforms in collaboration with major international manufacturers, the Barcelona-based company began a new path in 2021 that involves “made in Barcelona” design for the first 3 models and for the entire future range. The first results of this new stage are the new Montana XR1, Rockster, and Rockster Flat: 3 models that have been the best sellers of the Brand since 2017, now completely renewed and with a unique design. This is how the slogan that MACBOR chose to present itself at the 80th edition of the Milan International Motorcycle Show and to its future international partners emerges: “MACBOR, motorcycles with the soul of Barcelona.” No seu stand M81 (in Pavilion 13), MACBOR will present 13 models: 9 models from the current range – distributed in Spain and Portugal – and 4 new models to be presented during the new edition.
