Much has been said about the future of Marc Márquez, as his contract with Gresini Racing is only for one year, with some even suspecting that the former world champion may return to Honda as early as 2025, with a lot of information from Ducati, the most competitive bike currently on the grid. However, Gigi Dall’Igna does not see this as a risk, but rather as something that is just ‘part of the game’, and he pointed out that Johann Zarco will also move to the Honda sphere in 2024, with LCR.
The Italian was recently interviewed by the site motorcyclenews.com and spoke about the subject with the Frenchman on the tip of his tongue: ‘Zarco is going to Honda next year. It’s the same thing, isn’t it? The information, the knowledge, the things he knows, I’m sure he will take all of that with him’.
Dall’Igna, General Director of Ducati Corse at Ducati Motor Holding, said that this is something that happens all the time, giving the same example of Zarco who, despite spending a short time at KTM, also brought something with him… and revealed what he considers to be the worst: ‘There is always a transfer of knowledge when a rider changes teams. When Zarco came to us, he brought the experience from KTM with him. But that’s part of the game. It’s much worse in the case of Ducati engineers who went to KTM’.
