Just like it happened in 2023, Álex Márquez will once again have a Ducati from the previous year in the upcoming MotoGP season, with Gresini. This year has shown that it is possible to fight for top positions under these conditions, as demonstrated by Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati) with his third place in the championship and the victories already achieved.
In an interview with CopeGP, the Spanish rider stated that there are some advantages to having a bike with previous specifications, unless the factory bike makes a considerable leap:
– Ultimately having the bike from the previous year – it’s true that if the bike takes a very significant step and has a big advantage, which I believe will not be the case because it’s a good bike – but it means you arrive at the circuits with the electronics prepared, much more information, they have to fine-tune the new engine, and all of that. And you end up with an advantage.
