Miguel Oliveira abandoned the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix. It was on the twentieth lap that a crash took the man from CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team out of the race, while he was fighting for 19th place.
The start was not ideal for the Almada rider, who lost positions: he was last at one point, but still managed to finish the first lap in the 19th place he started in. Ahead of him was his teammate Raúl Fernández, until he was overtaken by Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) on the third lap.
Joan Mir’s crash (Repsol Honda) on the fifth lap put Oliveira back in 19th. The Portuguese rider managed to stay close to Nakagami, but had no chance to launch an attack. He would lose a position to Pol Espargaró (GasGas Tech3/KTM) on the fifth lap… just before being forced to retire with a crash in turn nine.
