Sergio García secured the Rookie of the Year distinction in Moto2 at the Malaysian GP. The Pons Wegow Los40 rider is currently in 13th place in the championship.
Despite it being the third consecutive round without scoring points, now with a 25th position in Sepang, García is no longer within reach of the other rookies. He has already accumulated 84 points.
The second best rookie, in 19th place, is Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex), who is 52 points behind with 50 still up for grabs until the end of the season. The South African did not start the race after a serious accident in the third practice session.
