Andrea Dovizioso was for many years the “face” of Ducati in the MotoGP world championship and especially in three years he had an adversary who prevented him from winning the championship, none other than Marc Márquez. Very aware of the reality of MotoGP, the Italian believes that Pecco Bagnaia will not have to look at the Spaniard as he will also have a Desmosedici at his disposal.
Three-time vice-world champion from 2017 to 2019, he saw the title slip away from him in the face of Márquez’s superiority. Dovizioso ensured that the current world champion only has to worry about himself, as he explained to GPOne: ‘Bagnaia doesn’t have to pay attention to Márquez. He has to think only about himself, because if we try to imitate these great champions, what happens is that we get lost’.
To explain, he referred a bit to Jorge Lorenzo and how the Spaniard thought, from the outset, that he would be successful: ‘In a way, it’s a bit like what happened in Lorenzo’s time. Jorge came to Ducati and thought he was going to break everything, but he ended up not doing it. We’ll see. I’m very curious’.
