Ducati has been growing like no one else in MotoGP in recent years and has the best bike on the grid, which is evident even with versions that are not the most recent – as seen last weekend with Álex Márquez, for example. Carmelo Ezpeleta addressed the issue and said that, since all the development was done within the rules, he cannot simply penalize the Italian manufacturer.
In statements to the press, quoted by Motosan, the MotoGP Executive Director addressed the issue by saying that in the future, Ducati may be punished… for being too good: ‘We can severely punish Ducati for being innovative and studying the regulations better. They do everything within the limits of the applicable regulations. Now, some opponents are demanding that some things be taken away from Ducati’.
Since some of the manufacturers that are following want to see some changes, Ezpeleta emphasized that it is not so simple to do: ‘I can’t go to Ducati and say: “Sorry, you are too good. We have to stop you’, and recalled what happens in the premier class of motor racing:
– In Formula 1, Red Bull Racing also does not hold back, just as Mercedes was not artificially limited for years.
