The Qatar GP meant farewell to MotoGP for Miguel Oliveira in 2023 after the confirmation of the shoulder injury that will force him to be out of the tracks indefinitely. The Portuguese RNF rider admitted that the season did not go well, facing many difficult situations.
The Portuguese rider began by analyzing the start of yesterday’s race, not forgetting what happened and determined the end of Aleix Espargaró’s race:‘It was a racing incident. Unfortunately, an accident with a teammate from Aprilia, which leaves me very disappointed. Yesterday I had a good start, so I thought I could continue to gain positions’.
Afterwards Oliveira admitted that he braked a little too late, but that probably also happened with #41, and lamented that both ended up out of the race and worse, injured: ‘But in turn 6, I braked a little too late, Aleix probably braked a little too much. As soon as I saw that I was probably going to hit him, I straightened the bike to avoid it, but I couldn’t avoid his rear wheel. Unfortunately, we both fell together, which is a disappointment. It was a misjudgment that ended up leaving us both on the ground and both injured’.
Then came some words about the injury that will force him to be out for a few months, still not knowing the real depth of it: ‘I have a scapula fracture and I still don’t know the extent of the injury. As soon as I get home, I will analyze the situation better and see what awaits me in terms of recovery. It seems that I won’t need surgery, but recovery takes some time. Unfortunately, I will miss the rest of the season, so this was my last lap’.
And he ended with a lament: ‘I had a bit of everything this season, it wasn’t what I was expecting, but I think this can also build more character for the next season. I am glad to have survived everything this season, so I hope next year will be better’.
