Fabio di Giannantonio imposed himself in the Qatar MotoGP Grand Prix, achieving his first victory in the premier category when his days in the pack may be numbered. The Gresini rider did not let himself be intimidated by the direct duel with the champion and championship leader, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), surpassing the rival without showing any pressure.
The #49 revealed in a press conference that, in the last week, there were negative developments about his future that left him particularly determined to win the Losail round:
– I want to be honest: let’s say that after Malaysia something happened regarding my future and it wasn’t good. That’s why I came home with a lot of anger, but in a positive way. I told my closest friends and family two or three times: “In Qatar, I will win.” And everyone said: “Don’t say that Fabio, please, because if you say that the energy will go away.” And I said: “I tell you now, I will win.” But of course, when you arrive here you have to do everything right and make it happen. It wasn’t easy, but we did it.
