After weeks of speculation, it is now official: Luca Marini has been chosen by Repsol Honda to replace Marc Márquez in MotoGP in 2024.
The rider entered the premier class in 2021 with Sky VR46 Avintia, later moving to the Mooney VR46 Racing Team when Valentino Rossi’s team debuted in the premier class in 2022. After being the Moto2 runner-up, he already has two podiums in the main race and two pole positions in the premier class.
Now, Marini will have his first project as a factory rider, with a 2-year contract. The challenge is tough, as Honda seeks to recover from poor results, a process that is expected to take some time.
