Ducati had two of its riders fighting for the MotoGP title until the end – Francesco Bagnaia from the official team and Jorge Martín from Prima Pramac. In the end, the factory rider became champion, but both had equal opportunities from the manufacturer.
This was the assurance given by Ducati Corse’s general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna. The Italian stated that Bagnaia’s title would be better for the manufacturer, but sportsmanship prevailed and the same opportunities were given to both riders:
– The numbers of this season are unbelievable. I am really proud of it. It was a difficult year, because we had two riders fighting for the title and it is hard for us – because we have to give them all the best chances to try to win the title. We have to keep equal distance between the two. Of course, it would be better for us if Pecco wins in the end because it is very important for our sponsors and Ducati Corse. But we have to be sportsmen and give both the best opportunities. And we did this.
