It is this weekend that Álex Rins makes his competition debut for Monster Energy Yamaha. The Qatar GP will be the first with the new team, after all the preparation in the preseason to adapt.
The Spanish rider revealed that he did not leave Qatar after the tests, in order to finalize his preparations in the best possible way: ‘This new chapter with Yamaha officially begins this weekend. I stayed in Qatar after the test because the weather forecasts for where I live were not very good and I wanted to be able to train as much as possible and be in race mode as early as possible‘.
Regarding his feelings and approach to the Losail round, Rins stated: ‘I am quite motivated and overall very curious to see what we can achieve this weekend. It’s a relatively new bike and a new team, and I didn’t compete in Qatar last year, which has been repaved and rebuilt since 2022, so I know I will have to take some time to adapt, but more importantly, I am just excited to start‘.
