The MotoGP testing day in Valencia was rich in debuts and was marked by Marc Márquez’s superiority over the others but the Spanish rider was not the only highlight of the day.
In addition to the new Gresini rider, Fabio Di Giannantonio is also a half-debut, since he continues with a bike he knows well, but now with the colors of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, as he precisely left Gresini a few days ago. He finished seventh and completed a total of 60 laps, ending 0.024s behind his former teammate, Álex Márquez, and 0.409s behind the test leader, Maverick Viñales.
Luca Marini (Repsol Honda) also performed well and finished in tenth, being the best on a Honda, completing a total of 72 laps.
Next came the group of new recruits, with Franco Morbidelli (Pramac Racing) in 16th place, ahead of Johann Zarco (LCR Honda). 0.77s separated the competitors, with the Italian completing a total of 69 laps, eight more than the Frenchman who made his debut on the RC213V.
The real debut was with Pedro Acosta (GASGAS Tech3) as the main protagonist, with the rider riding for the first time with a MotoGP bike. The Moto2 world champion completed a total of 70 laps, with the last one being his best, thus concluding the tests with the 18th fastest time.
Finishing up was Álex Rins (Yamaha), 1.311s off the lead. The Spaniard, who left LCR Honda to join the Yamaha factory team, completed a total of 54 laps. It is worth noting that he crashed on Sunday in the main race as he bid farewell to the RC213V.
