The 2023 MotoGP season saw the introduction of Sprint races. While they were a greater burden for the riders, they added something to the spectacle and to the championship fight.
Luca Marini, who represented the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, suffered two injuries this year and admitted in a press conference that the schedule with Sprint races is not ideal. However, he emphasized the need to adapt to what is available:
– I suffered two injuries during this season and it’s difficult when you have so many races and no time to recover between one race and another. If you add another race on Saturday it’s even more complicated because you have to push your body to 100 percent two days in a row. Last year everything was easier with the FP4. But this is the schedule for now and maybe also for the future, so we need to adapt and try to understand if there are other opportunities to make things easier and safer for us. Of course, for everyone to have a full grid of riders in every GP.
